March Announcements

Spaghetti/Marshmallow Structure Contest

How's your statics skills coming along?  Or better yet, how are your structure designing skills...with spaghetti (obviously uncooked)?  Come, show your skills and have fun with us this Thursday March 6th, 2014 in Rm 09 (The Dungeon) at 6:30 p.m..  There will be deserts provided.  Please bring a desert of your own to share if you'd like or drinks.  We will post all the exact guidelines for this contest soon!

For now, the guidelines are as follows:

  • Groups of three (3)
  • Each group will be given a number of Spaghetti straws (most likely 20), a bag of mini marshmallows, and a single big marshmallow
  • The winner will be the group with the tallest free-standing structure measured from the surface of the table and the top of the single big marshmallow
  • Possible additions to the contest: the strongest structure under a hanging load.

ISU Visit: MBA and/or MAcc Graduate Programs

When: Tursday, March 20th, 2014 at 2 pm
Where: Austin Rm 09
Why should I go?: One, they will be offering FREE pizza, but they will need a head count, so please RSVP through our Facebook page here.  Two, valuable information will be shared if you are interested in starting your own engineering business.

"We will be discussing the MBA and/or MAcc graduate programs offered through ISU and how they are tailored to meet the needs of students from BYU-Idaho. We will discuss costs, pre-requisites, application process, and mostly how this will benefit your future chosen career paths. We will be available for any questions you may have in the future and will provide our contact information at the meeting. We are also available for one on one meetings on the BYU-Idaho campus upon request."

Winter '14 Closing Social 

The semester is almost over and we've have great activities and we have more planned.   We want to finish up our semester with an awesome closing social it we are working hard to have it at the bowling alley in the MC.  We are hoping to get a full-hour of all the lanes.  The details are not complete yet, but this is what we have so far:

When: March 27th, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: MC 176C and we will then go bowling in the MC Bowling Alley from 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Why should I go?: There will be food there!  You can come and play bowling with all of us.  We may have a competition and break into groups. (Faculty are the team captains?)

As of now, we are planning on distributing the t-shirts for those who order them once the winner of the T-Shirt Design Contest is announced.  Stay tuned for more details about this.
We will also have the elections for the new officers.

Reminders: If you have not paid your dues, you can do so by giving it to any of the officers at any of the upcoming activities or giving it to Sister Carter, front desk or Rm 159 (Austin Building).

If you are interested in serving as an officer for the following year (Spring-Fall-Winter), send us a summary (200 word limit) of why you want to serve as an ASCE officer and a picture of you.
